Coming Soon! Streetread Mobile (most likely)

Making Streetread accessible via mobile device (iphone, blackberry, windows mobile, etc) was a feature I always wanted - and judging from numerous user-submitted suggestions, something a lot of other people want as well. So to extend Streetread functionality, increase promotion, battle competition, and make things easier for all of you, I decided to finally attempt to tackle the issue. I've been trying to ignore the idea for a while; mainly because I've never developed mobile-friendly web applications before. About four hours ago I decided to just jump right in and begin working. And enough of a surprise to myself, I already have a functional (but ugly) prototype.

I cannot promise anything - Streetread mobile is not a guarantee - although it is highly likely. I was considering putting together a Windows Mobile or iPhone application for mobility but decided the web route was the best path.

The service will be very basic and simple. You'll be given an easy to navigate menu where you can view the latest headlines for all the same available news sources and stock symbols of your choice. The stories will most likely be presented in a mobile-friendly format as well (via Google mobilizer). More details and screenshots will be made available in the near future.

I estimate development and design to continue on till the middle of next week. Another week will be left to testing where I will grant access to any member who wishes to help test the service. Then, most likely, the service will be available to everyone, and I'll watch and hope it doesn't bring this whole thing crashing down.

Check back periodically for more details if you're interested. Any feedback at all is welcomed (someone please tell me this is something you'd use).
